  1. The City of Irving announced an upcoming program: Kids Rock The Block, scheduled for April 1. The event is designed to create awareness for the Family Advocacy Center (FAC), which provides case management and free counseling services for those struggling with parenting, overcoming domestic violence, trauma from crime victimization, child abuse and other challenges.   2. A new UT Arlington program offers free admission to low-income students, reports Rebekah Morr. Students eligible for the program must be Texas residents, enrolled full time and come from families whose adjusted gross income is $85,000 a year or less. Currently enrolled students will be considered automatically. (KERA News)
  3. Irving resident and baseball pro Trevor Story has ruled out the Colorado Rockies for his next move, reports Noah Yingling. The team is said to have contacted Story before signing free agent Kris Bryant to play left field. That means there’s still a chance that he will join the Rangers in the upcoming season. (Rox Pile)
  4. Dallas-Plano-Irving ranks among the top 15 places in the country to buy a home if you’re hoping to retain your investment or even increase value, according to CNBC. The region ranked seventh in the nation, with an average property value increase of 228% since 1998. Topping the list was the Austin area.
